Abridge Collaborates with NVIDIA to Deliver Generative AI Microservices

This partnership seeks to enhance Abridge's mission to improve clinician and patient lives through generative AI technologies.

Abridge, a leader in generative AI for clinical documentation, announces a collaboration with NVIDIA aimed at leveraging NVIDIA’s compute resources and expertise in deploying AI systems at scale. This partnership seeks to enhance Abridge’s mission to improve clinician and patient lives through generative AI technologies. The collaboration coincides with an investment from NVentures, NVIDIA’s venture capital arm.

Addressing Missing Data in Healthcare

Abridge addresses the challenge of unrecorded patient-clinician conversations in medical records, a common occurrence despite the extensive interactions between medical professionals and patients. Leveraging AI, Abridge aims to structure this “missing data” to automate clerical tasks and provide insights to inform care decisions. To realize this vision, methodological advancements and efficient computing deployment are crucial, prompting the collaboration with NVIDIA.

Advanced AI Technologies at Work

Transforming raw audio into meticulous documentation requires various AI technologies to collaborate seamlessly, including language identification, transcription, alignment, and diarization. Abridge’s solution also employs powerful language models to summarize medical information and facilitate efficient editing. NVIDIA’s technologies, particularly the NIM inference microservices, enhance Abridge’s deep learning stack, significantly reducing latency and saving clinicians time.

Quotes from Abridge and NVIDIA

Zachary Lipton, Chief Technology and Scientific Officer of Abridge and Raj Reddy Assistant Professor of Machine Learning at Carnegie Mellon University, expressed excitement about collaborating with NVIDIA to push the boundaries of clinically specialized foundation models and advance medical speech and language technology.

Mohamed “Sid” Siddeek, corporate vice president and head of NVentures, highlighted the transformative potential of generative AI in healthcare and affirmed NVIDIA’s support for Abridge’s research efforts and responsible deployment of AI systems.

About Abridge

Founded in 2018, Abridge’s AI-powered platform aims to improve clinical documentation efficiency while enabling clinicians to focus on patient care. Their technology transforms patient-clinician conversations into structured clinical notes in real-time, with deep EMR integrations. Abridge is committed to setting industry standards for the responsible deployment of AI in healthcare.
