PostHog Enters New Growth Phase with $75 Million Series E at $1.4 Billion Valuation

Founders James Hawkins and Tim Glaser described this as the start of what they call Act 2 for the company.

PostHog, the developer-focused analytics platform, has raised $75 million in a Series E funding round, increasing its valuation to $1.4 billion. The round was led by Peak XV Partners, with significant participation from existing investors. Founders James Hawkins and Tim Glaser described this as the start of what they call Act 2 for the company, a phase focused on deeper integration into developer workflows and the automation of routine engineering tasks.

From Analytics to Actionable Workflows

PostHog has long been recognized for its analytics tools, helping developers understand user interactions within their products. Now, the platform is expanding to generate actionable items for developers automatically. On LinkedIn, Hawkins described the challenge that many engineers face: “Today, engineers start work and immediately wade through escalated support tickets, Slack, email, whatever customers said in the latest call – often only by the afternoon to start working on new features. We want you to be able to start work and then immediately see a list of PRs already made for you automatically based on all the things that popped up since you last logged in.

Platforms such as Amplitude and Mixpanel focus on user analytics and engagement metrics, while PostHog combines insights with practical developer tasks. By connecting analytics to operational workflows, developers begin their day with a clear view of issues that need attention and can move directly into addressing them.

By generating pull requests in response to newly surfaced issues, PostHog helps developers to merge, close, or edit smaller tasks without delay. The platform also incorporates event tracking, feature flags, experimentation frameworks, and tools to collect user feedback once a feature is deployed, reflecting a shift from providing analytics to embedding into the daily workflow of software teams.

Automation in PostHog keeps the human element central. Each pull request or adjustment remains visible to the team for review or modification, ensuring that engineers retain full control while recurring tasks become less burdensome.

A Platform Built Around Developers

PostHog emphasizes close engagement with its user base. Hawkins shared a personal encounter that exemplifies this relationship: while walking in San Francisco, he was approached by a user who recognized him and expressed enthusiasm for PostHog. “We’ve always felt supported by our users and fans – we’ve been able to do so much of our work with a smile on our faces,” he said.

Unlike broader analytics platforms that emphasize enterprise dashboards, PostHog engages engineers directly with features that touch their daily workflows. Early access programs invite developers to provide feedback on automation features, ensuring each iteration responds to actual usage. This helps teams incorporate practical improvements while keeping the platform closely aligned with real-world workflows.

Early versions of the new automation features have been released to developers participating in feedback programs, ensuring that each iteration responds to actual usage rather than assumptions. This method will enable the platform to scale while remaining closely aligned with how engineers work daily.
