Genpact Hired the Former CEO of ASAPP to Build Its Agentic AI Products

"We pivoted Genpact to be the Agentic Operations company, and we are not slowing down."
Priya Vijayarajendran joined Genpact on August 31 as its first Chief Product and Platform Officer, a role created specifically for the company's shift from services to products. Her first task is building AI Maestro, Genpact's enterprise platform for scaling data, AI, and agentic operations across every client.
The first solutions to be built on it are named: Customer Care and IT Operations. Both are productized and IP-led, designed to convert decades of Genpact's accumulated process intelligence into agentic workflows that run autonomously while keeping human experts in the loop.
The governance architecture is a design requirement. Vijayarajendran described the approach on LinkedIn saying, “security and governance built in from the start, with human expertise in the loop so that AI can be trusted operationally.”
"We pivoted Genpact to be the Agentic Operations company, and we are not slowing down," said BK Kalra, President and CEO of Genpact. "The durable advantage in this market is owned IP and process intelligence which Genpact uniquely brings and is hard to replicate."
Vijayarajendran arrives from ASAPP, where she most recently served as CEO, consolidating ASAPP's point solutions into a unified agentic AI platform running autonomous customer service for some of the world's largest enterprises.
Before becoming CEO, she served as ASAPP's President of Technology and CTO, building its generative AI platforms from the ground up and leading R&D that produced more than 70 AI patents.
She has built exactly the kind of unified agentic platform Genpact is now asking her to build again, at larger scale. Before ASAPP, she led Microsoft's global Azure Data and AI business, and served as IBM's CTO for Cognitive, IoT, and Watson Health, overseeing AI deployment in complex, regulated enterprise environments.
Two decades at SAP in product, innovation, and enterprise architecture precede those roles. The combination maps precisely onto Genpact's stated objective: building proprietary agentic solutions on a standardized platform using process intelligence accumulated across client industries.
Vijayarajendran described the opportunity on LinkedIn as "weaving deep functional and process intelligence with the right technology stack, converting decades of operational knowledge into agentic solutions at scale."
Genpact's position as an operational expertise company, is her stated starting point for what AI Maestro is designed to unlock. "Genpact has a unique opportunity to bring together decades of operational expertise, process intelligence, data, AI, and product engineering to define how enterprise operations become more autonomous and outcome-driven," she said.
