Accenture announced it has agreed to acquire Industries eXcellence Group (IndX), a division of Engineering Group that specializes in Siemens Digital Industries software and industrial technology solutions. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The acquisition is expected to strengthen Accenture's ability to help manufacturers modernize product development, factory operations, and supply chain processes using software, data, and artificial intelligence (AI). The deal remains subject to customary closing conditions.
Tracey Countryman, Global Supply Chain and Engineering Lead at Accenture, said manufacturers are increasing investments in software, data, and AI to make engineering and factory operations more connected and flexible.
"Manufacturers are increasingly investing in software, data and AI to make engineering and factory operations more flexible, intelligent and connected," Countryman said. She added that many organizations continue to face challenges integrating these technologies across products, factories, plants, and supply chains.
According to Accenture, combining IndX's Siemens expertise with its own AI capabilities could help address those integration challenges more quickly.
Focus on Manufacturing Software and Industrial AI IndX operates from Rome and Chicago and specializes in Siemens software used in process and discrete manufacturing environments.
Its portfolio includes product lifecycle management (PLM), digital thread solutions, simulation, digital twins, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), industrial edge computing, and cloud technologies.
The acquisition comes as manufacturers increasingly invest in digital twins, simulation platforms, and AI-driven factory optimization tools.
