Accenture Acquires IndX to Expand Industrial AI and Siemens Software Expertise

Accenture plans to acquire IndX, adding Siemens software and industrial AI expertise to support manufacturers modernizing engineering, production, and supply chains.
Accenture announced it has agreed to acquire Industries eXcellence Group (IndX), a division of Engineering Group that specializes in Siemens Digital Industries software and industrial technology solutions. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The acquisition is expected to strengthen Accenture's ability to help manufacturers modernize product development, factory operations, and supply chain processes using software, data, and artificial intelligence (AI). The deal remains subject to customary closing conditions.
Tracey Countryman, Global Supply Chain and Engineering Lead at Accenture, said manufacturers are increasing investments in software, data, and AI to make engineering and factory operations more connected and flexible.
"Manufacturers are increasingly investing in software, data and AI to make engineering and factory operations more flexible, intelligent and connected," Countryman said.
She added that many organizations continue to face challenges integrating these technologies across products, factories, plants, and supply chains. According to Accenture, combining IndX's Siemens expertise with its own AI capabilities could help address those integration challenges more quickly.
Focus on Manufacturing Software and Industrial AI
IndX operates from Rome and Chicago and specializes in Siemens software used in process and discrete manufacturing environments. Its portfolio includes product lifecycle management (PLM), digital thread solutions, simulation, digital twins, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), industrial edge computing, and cloud technologies.
The acquisition comes as manufacturers increasingly invest in digital twins, simulation platforms, and AI-driven factory optimization tools. Recent developments across the sector include Siemens' expanded work with Capgemini on AI-enabled manufacturing solutions.
IndX's expertise in digital twins and simulation also aligns with broader industry efforts to combine AI with virtual manufacturing environments, including Siemens' collaboration with NVIDIA on immersive industrial visualization technologies.
Following the completion of the transaction, IndX employees and assets will become part of the Accenture Siemens Business Group, a joint initiative launched by Accenture and Siemens in 2025 to expand industrial technology and AI services.
Tony Hemmelgarn, President and CEO of Siemens Digital Industries Software, said the acquisition would bring additional expertise in digital manufacturing, engineering, automation, digital twin, and simulation technologies to the partnership.
New Siemens Digital Industries Center of Excellence Across Countries
Accenture said IndX employs more than 650 people across Italy, the United States, India, Germany, Mexico, and other European markets.
As part of the transaction, Accenture plans to establish two Centers of Excellence focused on Siemens Digital Industries solutions, one in Italy and another in India. The facilities will support clients working on product design, factory operations, and supply chain modernization projects.
The announcement highlights India's role in Accenture's industrial technology strategy as manufacturers adopt AI-powered engineering and production systems. The company said the centers will bring together specialists in industrial software and digital technologies to support global customers.
Vivek Kaushik, Global Lead of the Accenture Siemens Business Group, said the companies are developing industrial AI-enabled solutions designed to reduce engineering timelines, improve manufacturing efficiency, and strengthen clients' digital infrastructure.
The acquisition also reflects growing demand for industrial AI capabilities across sectors including aerospace and defense, automotive, high tech, consumer goods, energy, industrial equipment, life sciences, and utilities. As manufacturers continue investing in connected engineering and production environments, expertise in integrating software, operational technology, and AI is becoming an increasingly important differentiator.
