How Will Wistron's New Plant Impact AI Manufacturing?

The 324,000-square-foot facility is producing NVIDIA GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchips and will add Vera Rubin Superchips.

Wistron, the global technology service provider, opened its first U.S. manufacturing facility on July 21, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas. The 324,000-sq-ft D1 plant represents a $700 million investment and produces components for advanced AI systems.

NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang joined Wistron Chairman Simon Lin at the opening ceremony, which was attended by Wistron executives, Taiwan government officials, and local Fort Worth leaders.

According to NVIDIA, the plant currently runs two manufacturing cells, one producing the NVIDIA GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip and another that will produce the NVIDIA Vera Rubin Superchip. NVIDIA said D1 is scaling up this year to produce tens of thousands of boards per month.

NVIDIA said the facility has created more than 500 jobs in Texas and plans to expand to 1,000 by the end of 2026. It also said the plant supports NVIDIA's commitment to manufacture up to $500 billion in AI infrastructure in the United States.

Simon Lin, Chairman of Wistron, said the facility represents a new kind of operation. "The operation here is not typical manufacturing. It is new, very comprehensive, and high-tech," Lin said. "Right now we produce the NVIDIA GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip, and beyond, we are also going to produce the NVIDIA Vera Rubin Superchip here."

Lin also addressed the pace of AI infrastructure development. "In the AI era, the pressure of speed is also a form of responsibility," Lin said. "We don't just need to build fast; we need to build right."

Designed and Simulated Digitally First

Wistron designed and fully simulated the facility before construction began, using a digital twin built on NVIDIA's Nemotron and Cosmos models, along with its Omniverse and Metropolis libraries and the open source PhysicsNeMo framework, according to NVIDIA. The company said this allowed Wistron engineers to validate assembly line layouts, optimize production processes, and train workers on standard operating procedures virtually before the physical factory came online.

The Fort Worth facility will serve as the core engine of Wistron's U.S. manufacturing operations, connecting its global production network with ecosystem partners, according to Wistron, which also said the investment reflects efforts to deepen its technical capabilities and support the next phase of AI infrastructure development.

Jensen Huang, Founder and CEO of NVIDIA, said the facility reflects broader demand across the industry. "The largest infrastructure buildout in history is underway," Huang said. "Together, NVIDIA and Wistron are restoring US advanced manufacturing capacity in Texas, creating skilled jobs and strengthening America's AI supply chain."

Wistron said it is extending its AI server production capabilities from Taiwan to the United States as part of a broader effort to build a one-stop operational ecosystem spanning manufacturing and after-sales service. The company said this approach is designed to shorten delivery timelines, strengthen supply chain resilience, and support long-term scaling of AI infrastructure production.

The company also said that it will continue expanding its AI, cloud, and advanced manufacturing capabilities to support the next generation of intelligent computing.
