During Fiserv’s Q3 2026 earnings call on November 3, 2026, CEO Takis Georgakopoulos said that after Fiserv embedded agents in Clover's risk-hold process, which reviews merchant transactions flagged for potential fraud, "decision times fell by 2/3, and false positives dropped by more than 40%."

Fiserv is also running an agentic call center built with Sierra. Georgakopoulos said it is generating "a return on token costs of 5 to 10 times, and no negative impact on customer NPS."

He described the approach in response to a question from Bernstein analyst Harshita Rawat. "You embed AI and machine learning, you automate the process," he said.

AgentOS and the Bank Pipeline

Fiserv's agent platform for banks, AgentOS, is moving toward wider release. Georgakopoulos said it has nearly 200 banks in the pipeline, and that the pilot banks the company showcased at its Investor Day are nearing production deployment. Next year, Fiserv plans to open the program to a broader set of customers and launch new agent capabilities.

AgentOS is built on an open architecture that lets clients integrate third-party solutions and deploy AI agents on Fiserv's systems. Georgakopoulos said the platform also makes Fiserv a natural partner for AI fintechs that have a strong product but no distribution.

Asked by KBW analyst Vasundhara Govil about adoption, he said clients are in a phase of rapid experimentation toward deployment.

Use cases will become more complex and more autonomous over time, he said, but Fiserv starts with "always human in the loop." On pricing, he said to "think of it as a version of tokens," tied to the savings clients generate.

Fiserv is also using agents in its own client work. Georgakopoulos said the company now has multiple agents across offerings including XD, Cash Flow Central, DNA and CoreAdvance, aimed at shortening implementation and migration timelines for clients moving onto Fiserv.

AI in Engineering and Security

Georgakopoulos said no area of Fiserv is affected more by AI than software development. Working with partners including Cognition, Anthropic and OpenAI, the company has seen a significant acceleration in the speed of new code deployment, he said.

Fiserv is focusing the work of its 14,000 engineers on lowering costs, increasing speed and improving platform resiliency.

On cybersecurity, he said Fiserv can now remediate vulnerabilities "at AI speed" as it uncovers them with frontier models.

He listed digital identity, fraud, know-your-customer checks, underwriting and autonomous agents among the areas where Fiserv plans to apply AI across its banking and merchant businesses.

AI is also part of Fiserv's cost program. The company raised its Project Elevate savings target to $1 billion, up from more than $500 million previously.

Georgakopoulos said embedding AI in all workflows is part of the program's approach, and that early results from deploying AI contributed to the higher target.

CFO Paul Todd said the larger target supports a path toward a 37% adjusted operating margin over the longer term, and that the incremental savings will largely come beyond 2027.

The Quarter

Fiserv reported Q3 2026 adjusted revenue of $4.85 billion, down 1% year over year, with organic revenue flat. Adjusted operating margin was 31.2%, and adjusted EPS was $1.75. Clover gross payment volume rose 9%, or 11% excluding a Gateway conversion.

Merchant Solutions adjusted revenue fell 3%, and Financial Solutions adjusted revenue was flat. GAAP results included a non-cash goodwill impairment of $12.04 per share.

Fiserv reaffirmed its 2026 guidance, including adjusted EPS of $7.20 to $7.40 and an adjusted operating margin of about 31% to 31.5%. The company plans $500 million in share repurchases in the fourth quarter.
