Home Health Revenue Gets AI Assist with WorldView’s Referral AI Launch

Referral AI aims to solve this problem by using AI to scan and analyze referral documents in seconds, with customizable sensitivity settings to detect potential errors.

Home healthcare technology provider WorldView has unveiled an artificial intelligence solution designed to help home health and hospice agencies maximize revenue from new patient referrals. The system, called Referral AI, uses machine learning to rapidly process intake documentation and ensure referrals don’t slip through the cracks.

For home health agencies, receiving and acting upon new patient referrals quickly is critical for both securing revenue and providing timely care. However, the referral packets can be dozens of pages long, leading to frequent delays or missed referrals as staff work through the documentation manually.

Home health and hospice agencies receive many forms of electronic documents in their inbox, including referrals for new patient service. Referrals must be acted on quickly, but with documents being dozens of pages, they often sit unread or, worse, are missed or overlooked. Over time, the referral can become invalid, resulting in lost revenue for the agency and posing a risk of delayed service for patients.

Referral AI aims to solve this problem by using AI to scan and analyze referral documents in seconds, with customizable sensitivity settings to detect potential errors. Confirmed referrals are then automatically routed to the agency’s electronic medical record (EMR) system.

“When we started developing our Referral AI technology, we saw first-hand how other solutions released features that inevitably created more downstream issues,” said Jared Robey, SVP at WorldView. “We leveraged our extensive dataset to build and train our AI/ML model, ensuring that referrals are identified accurately and routed to an intake team for prioritization.”

By streamlining and accelerating the intake process, WorldView claims Referral AI can enable care coordination to begin almost immediately and provide clinicians with an organized overview of the patient’s history and needs. The company’s AI team will continue enhancing the system over time through a continuous learning feedback loop.

Robey added, “This investment allows WorldView to continue pushing automation limits to enhance user experience and increase financial success.”
