Flow Engineering Raises $23M to Modernize Hardware Engineering

Our goal is to make hardware development as iterative and transparent as software development, so teams can collaborate seamlessly across disciplines.

Flow Engineering raised $23 million in a Series A funding round led by Sequoia Capital. The round included Odyssey Ventures, Unity founder David Helgason, and Stripe co-founders Patrick and John Collison. Sequoia managing partner Roelof Botha joined Flow’s board.

Founded in 2023 by Pari Singh, Flow Engineering develops tools to address the growing complexity of modern hardware development. Singh, a former product leader in systems engineering, said, “Hardware design tools have not kept pace with the increasing complexity of products, creating friction for engineers trying to bring ideas to market.”

On LinkedIn, he added, “Agile systems engineering lets teams move faster without losing sight of requirements across mechanical, electrical, and software domains.”

Singh has a background in aerospace and defense product development and founded Flow Engineering to provide a platform that integrates multiple engineering disciplines into a single workflow. The board expansion reflects the company’s focus on growing operations and supporting larger, complex engineering projects.

Product & Adoption

Flow Engineering offers a collaborative, cloud-based platform for software-defined hardware development. The platform manages the full lifecycle of a hardware product, from initial requirements through design changes and version control. Teams can document modifications, track dependencies across components, and maintain coordination between mechanical, electrical, and software engineering functions.

The platform is already in use by Rivian, Joby Aviation, and Astranis. Singh said, “Our goal is to make hardware development as iterative and transparent as software development, so teams can collaborate seamlessly across disciplines.”

Unlike traditional CAD or PLM tools, Flow treats product requirements as dynamic systems rather than static documents. Engineers can adjust specifications while keeping the full product context visible, ensuring all teams remain aligned.

Flow Engineering’s platform includes integrated version control, change tracking, and collaboration tools, allowing teams to see the history of each component and any related changes. This approach reduces duplication, minimizes conflicts between engineering domains, and improves efficiency in managing complex hardware systems.

Market Trend & Expansion Plans

Hardware development increasingly relies on embedded software and electronics. This integration demands tools that unify mechanical, electrical, and software design workflows. Flow Engineering addresses these needs by providing a single platform where teams can manage all aspects of a product’s development.

The Series A funding will support the hiring of additional engineers, the expansion of platform capabilities, and the deeper integration with existing CAD and PLM software. Singh said, “This funding allows us to accelerate integration with existing engineering tools and scale to industries where complex hardware meets software”.

The company is focusing on sectors such as infrastructure, aerospace, robotics, and renewable energy, all of which involve multi-disciplinary engineering teams.

Adoption by major clients and the addition of an experienced board member show measurable progress in Flow Engineering’s mission. The company continues to provide practical tools for engineering teams, helping them coordinate across domains, maintain traceability, and manage increasingly complex hardware systems.
