Vivien Bonazzi Joins Inari as Chief Data Officer to Lead Its Data and AI Strategy

Inari appoints Dr. Vivien Bonazzi as its Chief Data Officer to lead its data-driven push for smarter, more sustainable farming.

Inari, the seed tech company using science to improve how crops are grown, has welcomed Dr. Vivien Bonazzi as its new Chief Data Officer.

A leading biomedical data scientist, Bonazzi has spent years working with data across healthcare and life sciences. She led major data projects at the National Institutes of Health and later advised companies on new tech at Deloitte. Now at Inari, she will be elevating the company’s AI-powered predictive design capabilities for ongoing development of seed products.

“I have dedicated my career to utilizing data to benefit people. Helping to drive Inari’s innovative technology to support global food system sustainability is a meaningful opportunity to continue this mission,” said Bonazzi. ” I am eager to leverage my expertise to enhance Inari’s capabilities and contribute to this essential work.”

Data Takes Center Stage at Inari

Inari works on improving key crops like corn, soy, and wheat. Its edge comes from blending biology with technology. Scientists at the company are leveraging the latest breakthroughs in AI to rapidly build exponential new plant genomic knowledge and applications that guide its unmatched multiplex gene editing toolbox.

Bonazzi will oversee the methodologies, technologies, and digital infrastructure needed to accelerate the company’s abilities and truly novel products to market. Her responsibilities include the smooth flow of data across the whole company, from research labs to product teams to sales. This will help the teams make better decisions, move faster, and deliver stronger results.

CEO Ponsi Trivisvavet said Bonazzi is the right person to lead this next phase. “Data underpins everything we do at Inari, so we are thrilled to have Vivien’s leadership in this area,” said Inari CEO Ponsi Trivisvavet. “Her experience helps fortify our cutting-edge SEEDesign™ technology platform, and her biomedical background brings fresh perspectives to help us unlock the full potential of seed.”

Bringing Big Data Experience to Farming

Before joining Inari, Bonazzi served as chief biomedical data scientist and managing director at Deloitte Consulting LLP. Prior to that, she was a senior advisor in the Office of the Director at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Co-founded the NIH Data Commons. At NIH, Bonazzi developed new bioinformatics initiatives for NHGRI and trans-NIH and digital platforms that support biomedical data. She has also held several roles in both the private and nonprofit sectors, including Celera Genomics, Invitrogen, and The Institute for Genomic Research. Now, she’s bringing that experience to agriculture.

“Inari is a unique convergence of agriculture, biology, and data science,” said Bonazzi. “That multidisciplinary intersection is where I thrive, and I look forward to building bridges across teams to fully harness the power of our platform.”

Inari is growing fast and putting more focus on predictive design, using data to design better seeds before they ever go in the ground. The company wants to use science and strategy together to develop better products. With Bonazzi joining the team, Inari will use data analytics to bring the change farmers need.
