Labcorp and OpenAI Launch an AI That Knows Your Full Lab History

"Consumers are increasingly turning to AI to help them make sense of their health, but trust and clinical context matter."
Labcorp launched MyLabcorp on May 20, 2026, bringing OpenAI's advanced reasoning models into a consumer-facing health platform designed to help patients make sense of their lab results, not just see them.
Most patient portals have long allowed users to access their test results digitally. What MyLabcorp adds is the ability to ask questions about those results in natural language, view trends across years of historical data, and receive personalized explanations grounded in the clinical context of Labcorp's own scientific expertise.
According to the press release, the AI assistant draws on available Labcorp test data to tailor its responses to each individual user rather than providing generic health information.
"Consumers are increasingly turning to AI to help them make sense of their health, but trust and clinical context matter," said Amy Summy, EVP and Chief Marketing Officer at Labcorp. "By bringing together Labcorp's deep scientific expertise with AI, MyLabcorp is designed to help individuals move beyond isolated results to gain deeper insights into their health and support more informed conversations with their healthcare providers."
MyLabcorp organizes its capabilities across four areas, according to the press release. The lab results view gives users access to their full Labcorp test history in a mobile-friendly format that tracks trends over time rather than presenting each result as an isolated event.
The AI assistant provides real-time, personalized explanations of results and lifestyle considerations based on available data, powered by OpenAI's reasoning models and designed for conversational interaction.
Health education content covers five clinical areas, cardiometabolic health, mental health, digestion, kidney function, and sexual health, with clinically reviewed, guideline-based information integrated directly with the user's own test results.
The fourth component covers lab services: appointment scheduling, patient service center locations, test shopping, and billing management.
The platform is HIPAA-compliant and does not provide medical diagnoses or treatment recommendations, a governance design that positions the app as a tool for informed conversation with healthcare providers rather than a replacement for clinical judgment.
Labcorp's own survey data frames the demand the app is designed to meet. More than half of consumers view AI as important for understanding healthcare information.
Among those already using AI for health purposes, 41% are using it to interpret lab results and 35% to understand test ranges.
The gap the survey identifies is not in consumer interest but in clinical context. Most AI tools answer health questions without access to a user's actual data or grounding in established clinical guidelines.
"MyLabcorp reflects this approach by combining Labcorp's scientific expertise with OpenAI's models to help individuals better understand their results and identify patterns over time, all within a secure, trusted environment," said Bola Oyegunwa, EVP and Chief Information and Technology Officer at Labcorp.
