Veteran Maryland tech entrepreneur Ken Bajaj has come out of retirement to launch DigitalNet.ai, a new Bethesda-based artificial intelligence company formed through $200 million in strategic acquisitions.
The company brings together three established firms, Harmonic AI, Zillion Technologies, and Axis Group, to create an enterprise-focused AI platform designed to build and deploy intelligent virtual assistants.
Bajaj, who has built and scaled several successful technology ventures in the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia region, returned to the tech world after selling his majority stake in Digital Management Inc. (DMI) in 2021.
“I did retire for a few months, but I didn’t like it,” Bajaj told. “I saw this opportunity to create something that will make a difference and couldn’t resist the AI opportunity.”
DigitalNet.ai already employs over 1,100 people worldwide and has more than 2,000 trained AI agents operating across industries. The company focuses on helping enterprise and government clients automate decision-making and optimize complex operational workflows through secure and scalable AI systems.
Building DigitalNet.ai Through Acquisitions
Bajaj’s return to entrepreneurship is built on a strategy of consolidation and capability expansion. Over several years, he identified firms with strengths in data management, systems integration, and cybersecurity, three areas that form the backbone of DigitalNet.ai’s AI agent technology.
To establish the company, Bajaj led the acquisition of Harmonic AI, which specializes in AI agent frameworks and model training; Zillion Technologies, an IT and systems integration firm serving large enterprises; and Axis Group, a data analytics and visualization company. The combined transaction value reached about $200 million, financed through Bajaj’s own assets and capital from Ulysses Management, a New York-based private equity firm.
This combination gives DigitalNet.ai an integrated foundation of technology and expertise spanning infrastructure, analytics, and automation. The goal is to provide clients with AI-driven systems that can be trained to perform specialized business functions and make operational decisions similar to human staff.
Enterprise-Grade AI Workforce
At the center of DigitalNet.ai’s offering is its growing workforce of AI virtual assistants, which help organizations handle data-heavy, repetitive, and analytical tasks with improved speed and accuracy. The company has already deployed more than 2,000 trained AI agents for clients in industries such as finance, logistics, and information technology.
Each agent is designed to learn from an organization’s internal data while following strict compliance and security standards. This approach allows businesses to automate key operations without losing oversight or transparency. The company’s 1,100 employees, including engineers, data scientists, and integration specialists, support these AI systems from offices across the United States, Europe, and Asia.
DigitalNet.ai primarily serves large enterprises and government agencies, focusing on AI systems that enhance efficiency and reduce operational complexity. Bajaj’s decades of experience in IT services and digital transformation guide the company’s focus on business-ready AI rather than consumer-oriented tools. The company aims to help organizations modernize their workflows with technology that is both adaptable and accountable.
