Autodesk Raises FY27 Outlook After Q2 Revenue Climbs 16%

Autodesk raised its fiscal 2027 revenue and billings outlook after Q2 revenue reached $2.05 billion, with MaintainX adding to future growth.

Autodesk raised its fiscal 2027 revenue and billings outlook after reporting second-quarter revenue of $2.046 billion, up 16% year over year, as the software company continues expanding its platform into operations and AI.

Billings rose 10% to $1.854 billion, while GAAP operating margin increased to 29% from 25% a year earlier. Non-GAAP operating margin reached 41%, up 2 percentage points. Autodesk also reported GAAP diluted earnings per share of $2.33 and non-GAAP diluted earnings per share of $3.30.

The company raised its full-year fiscal 2027 billings guidance to $8.575 billion-$8.65 billion, compared with its previous outlook, and lifted revenue guidance to $8.295 billion-$8.345 billion. The updated outlook includes MaintainX, which Autodesk acquired on August 3.

MaintainX Expands Autodesk's Push Into Operations

MaintainX is expected to contribute approximately $60 million in revenue and $70 million in billings during the second half of fiscal 2027. Autodesk said the contribution will be weighted slightly toward the fourth quarter.

The acquisition adds maintenance and operations capabilities to Autodesk's existing design and manufacturing portfolio. Autodesk had announced the approximately $3.6 billion acquisition in May, saying it would help connect operations workflows with design and make across the asset lifecycle.

The company is now positioning operations as another source of growth alongside its established businesses. CEO Andrew Anagnost said during the earnings call that MaintainX would allow Autodesk to capture information about how assets perform in the real world and feed that information back into design, construction and manufacturing workflows.

That approach comes as companies increasingly seek to connect operational data with AI applications. An industrial AI strategy built around connected data and operational context can support applications such as predictive maintenance, production optimization and operator assistance.

AI And Construction Remain Key Growth Areas

Autodesk also highlighted continued momentum in construction. Anagnost said during the call that the construction business was growing at more than 20%, with technology adoption helping contractors address capacity constraints and manage project backlogs.

AI adoption is also moving into specific construction workflows, including pre-construction and estimating. Autodesk said customers selected Forma for Construction for cost management, pre-construction and model coordination during the quarter.

The company's AI strategy centers on combining its industry data and workflow context with different AI models. Anagnost said Autodesk plans to use frontier models alongside its own models, including Neural CAD, depending on the task and the need for accuracy, speed and cost efficiency.

Autodesk expects fiscal 2027 free cash flow of $2.725 billion-$2.75 billion, including approximately $45 million in transaction expenses related to the MaintainX acquisition. It expects fiscal 2027 non-GAAP operating margin of approximately 39%.

For the third quarter, Autodesk expects revenue of $2.125 billion-$2.14 billion and non-GAAP earnings per share of $3.04-$3.09. The company is also set to showcase its latest product and AI developments at Autodesk University from September 15 to September 15.
