Salesforce And Anthropic Put AI Inside The Enterprise Workflow With Claudeforce

Salesforce and Anthropic are combining Claude with Salesforce data, workflows and governance as enterprise AI moves toward agent-driven work.
The rise of AI agents is forcing enterprise software companies to reconsider where their products create value. Salesforce's answer is to put its data, workflows and business logic behind an AI interface, with Anthropic's Claude at the center of its latest effort.
The companies announced Claudeforce on August 26, expanding a partnership that brings Claude's reasoning capabilities together with Salesforce's data, workflows, business rules and governance. The initiative puts Salesforce capabilities directly inside Claude while also deepening Claude's role across Salesforce and Slack.
The announcement comes as Salesforce seeks to show that AI agents can increase the value of enterprise software. Its latest results provide some evidence for that strategy. Salesforce reported $11.35 billion in second-quarter revenue, up 11% year over year, while Agentforce ARR exceeded $1.5 billion and combined Agentforce and Data 360 ARR reached nearly $3.9 billion.
The challenge is now putting powerful models to work inside trusted business systems. The shift from AI experimentation to enterprise deployment is making data, workflow integration and governance increasingly central to how companies deploy AI.
Claudeforce Moves Salesforce Into Claude
The first release under the partnership is Salesforce in Claude, a plugin designed around the sales cycle. It includes 37 prebuilt sales skills covering activities such as meeting preparation, deal-health reviews and pipeline reviews. The system can reason over live Salesforce revenue context and take actions through Salesforce.
The product can retrieve CRM information and act on it. Salesforce says the integration can generate interactive views of accounts and pipelines while routing actions back through Salesforce so existing business rules and permissions remain in place.
The product is currently available to select pilot customers and is expected to enter open beta in September 2026. Salesforce and Anthropic also plan additional integrations across Claude, Salesforce and Slack.
The approach builds on Salesforce's work to expand Agentforce across enterprise workflows. Earlier efforts focused on deploying and scaling AI agents inside the Salesforce environment.
Salesforce now wants those capabilities to operate beyond its own interface.
The Interface Is Becoming The Battleground
Salesforce says enterprise software can retain its value even as employees interact with it less directly. The company is positioning its underlying data and business logic as infrastructure for AI-driven work.
Salesforce's Q2 numbers point to growing activity around that model. Customers generated 3.2 billion Agentic Work Units during the quarter, a 97% increase from the previous quarter. Slackbot users also grew more than 150% quarter over quarter, while bookings for premium Agentforce offerings more than doubled.
Salesforce describes its AIforce architecture as an enterprise harness that can expose data and workflows to agents through Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, application programming interfaces (APIs) and command-line interface (CLI) tools. The objective is to allow software capabilities to appear wherever employees are working rather than requiring them to return to a particular application.
Slack is central to that strategy. Claude is already being used as the default model for Slackbot, and Salesforce says Slackbot generated 8.1 million hours of annualized productivity gains for its own employees, more than double the previous quarter.
The partnership also embeds Claude within Salesforce. Claude is available inside Salesforce's Agentforce platform, where it serves as a reasoning model for the Atlas Reasoning Engine and powers Agentforce Vibes and Agentforce Coworker by default. Through Amazon Bedrock, Salesforce says Claude can operate within its Trust Boundary for customers that require additional controls around data and AI workloads.
The partnership also makes each company a customer of the other's technology. Salesforce says Anthropic uses Salesforce as its preferred CRM and Slack as its preferred multiplayer work platform, while Claude powers several Salesforce AI experiences.
Salesforce Is Betting That AI Amplifies Enterprise Software
The partnership comes as investors and software companies debate whether increasingly capable AI agents could weaken the traditional software-as-a-service model. If an agent can perform tasks without a person navigating an application, the value of individual software interfaces and per-user licenses could come under pressure.
Salesforce expects increasingly capable AI to increase the value of trusted enterprise context. Salesforce says AI agents need reliable data, permissions, workflows and business rules to act safely, increasing the value of the enterprise systems that provide that context.
The strategy is also evident in Salesforce's recent investments. In June, the company announced its $3.6 billion acquisition of Fin, a customer-service AI agent platform, reinforcing its effort to build packaged AI agents around enterprise workflows.
The company's financial results also support continued investment in the strategy. Alongside its Q2 revenue growth, Salesforce generated $1.1 billion in free cash flow, up 81% year over year, and raised its FY2027 revenue guidance to $46.1 billion-$46.4 billion.
Claudeforce remains an early test of how the strategy performs at scale. Salesforce in Claude is still moving from pilot to open beta, and the companies have not yet demonstrated the full commercial impact of the broader partnership.
The direction of the strategy is clear. Salesforce is no longer treating its CRM as a destination where users must perform work. It is trying to turn the CRM, its data and its business logic into a foundation that AI can use from wherever the work takes place.
If the model succeeds, enterprise software competition could increasingly center on the quality of the context platforms provide to AI and the controls they place around AI actions. Claudeforce is Salesforce's latest attempt to make that shift.
