Omnicell Names Nnamdi Njoku President to Advance AI and Growth Strategy

Omnicell promoted COO Nnamdi Njoku to President as it expands its AI platform, scales global operations, and advances autonomous medication management.

Nnamdi Njoku has been appointed President of healthcare technology company Omnicell, effective July 1, while retaining his role as Chief Operating Officer (COO), as the company strengthens its leadership team to support its AI platform strategy and long-term growth.

Randall Lipps will continue serving as CEO and Chairman, with a greater focus on strategic collaborations and the long-term evolution of Omnicell's portfolio. Njoku will oversee the company's growth strategy, innovation roadmap, and global operations while continuing to lead product execution and customer experience initiatives.

The appointment comes as healthcare technology companies continue investing in AI-powered platforms to improve hospital operations, medication safety, and clinical workflows. Broader developments in healthcare AI have highlighted how providers are increasingly embedding AI into clinical and operational systems rather than deploying standalone tools.

Expanded Leadership Role Centers on AI Platform

In his expanded role, Njoku will continue leading several of Omnicell's highest-profile initiatives, including the rollout of the Omnicell Titan XT automated dispensing system and the expansion of OmniSphere, the company's cloud-native software platform. Omnicell introduced Titan XT in late 2025 as its next-generation automated dispensing system built to work with OmniSphere, which connects medication management workflows across healthcare organizations.

Lipps said Njoku has helped strengthen the company's operational foundation since joining Omnicell in 2024.

"Since joining Omnicell in 2024, Nnamdi has made a significant strategic impact on the Company, working to strengthen our operational foundation, shape our strategic direction and organizational design, and build strong relationships with our customers and the investment community," Lipps said.

Lipps added that the new leadership structure allows him to devote more attention to strategic customer relationships, industry partnerships, and the company's long-term vision.

Before joining Omnicell, Njoku spent more than 18 years at Medtronic, where he most recently served as Senior Vice President and President of its Neuromodulation Operating Unit. He also held leadership positions at Zimmer Biomet, UnitedHealth Group, and Deloitte Consulting. Omnicell announced his appointment as Executive Vice President and COO in 2024.

Supporting Omnicell's Autonomous Medication Management Strategy

Njoku said healthcare organizations are facing growing operational and financial pressures that require technology platforms capable of improving efficiency and clinical outcomes.

"As care delivery grows more distributed and complex, and financial and operational pressures intensify, we believe healthcare leaders need a trusted partner focused on delivering the innovation and intelligence that drives real outcomes," Njoku said.

Omnicell describes its strategy as autonomous medication management, combining pharmacy automation with AI-enabled intelligence and cloud software to help healthcare providers manage medication inventory, dispensing, and workflows.

The leadership change also aligns with Omnicell's product roadmap outlined during its first-quarter 2026 financial results, where the company identified Titan XT and OmniSphere as major priorities for the year, alongside broader investments in software and automation capabilities.

As healthcare providers continue adopting AI across clinical and operational environments, leadership changes increasingly reflect the need to pair technology strategy with execution. Recent developments across enterprise healthcare AI have similarly focused on expanding AI platforms that integrate with existing clinical workflows rather than introducing isolated AI applications.
