Anshul Chawla

Target is one of the largest US general merchandise retailers, operating nearly 2,000 stores nationwide and serving over 30 million weekly guests across its stores and digital channels.
Anshul Chawla has spent over seven years at Target building AI capabilities from the model level to the product level, developing demand forecasting engines, clearance price optimization services that save $200 million in annual costs, and now leading enterprise-wide GenAI enablement across a global team of 30-plus developers and product managers.
He has accelerated 25-plus GenAI proofs of concept to production, reducing time-to-market by 60% through centralized AI development infrastructure. His vision for the next decade of retail is shaped by a fundamental shift in how shopping itself will be structured.
"The last decade in retail was about providing flexibility to customers, an interconnected omnichannel shopping experience. With the advent of AI and agents, the next decade in retail would see a paradigm shift in shopping as an activity: it would get delegated to customers' personal AI agents that will interact with retailers' agents to shop optimally on behalf of customers," Anshul told Aim Media House.
