Autodesk Acquires Wonder Dynamics, Empowering Artists with Cloud-Based AI Technology

The makers of Wonder Studio, a cloud-based 3D animation and visual effects solution that combines artificial intelligence (AI) with well-known 3D tools, Wonder Dynamics has been acquired by Autodesk, Inc. Wonder Studio makes it easier for artists to animate, light, and arrange 3D figures into live-action scenarios since it is compatible with major 3D applications like Autodesk Maya. More artists will be able to include 3D animated figures into their works thanks to this calculated acquisition, which will also lower the learning curve and automate procedures that were previously difficult and time-consuming. The agreement's terms were kept a secret.

"Bringing Wonder Dynamics into the Autodesk Media & Entertainment portfolio extends our history of empowering artists with innovative and accessible solutions that break down barriers to entry," said Diana Colella, Executive Vice President of Media & Entertainment at Autodesk. "In the 1990s, we helped artists learn how to use computers to create 3D graphics leading to the industry we see today, and Wonder Dynamics is our next step on that journey. By embracing emerging technology, we want to help teams and creators of all sizes and skill levels create more content, more easily, so everyone has the power to bring their inspiring stories to life."

Wonder Dynamics is transforming the visual effects industry by creating AI and machine learning technologies that make it possible for filmmakers to create CGI and VFX elements more quickly and economically. Wonder Studio is a plug-in that works with high-end 3D applications such as Blender and Autodesk Maya, enabling efficient and superior character operations. The long-term goal of Autodesk is to unleash creativity by linking teams, data, and processes through Flow, the Media & Entertainment industry cloud on Autodesk's Design and Make platform. The acquisition of Wonder Dynamics is in line with this goal.
