Opera Launches Neon, An AI-Centric Web Browser

Browser maker Opera has just released Neon, an AI-centric web browser designed to change the way users interact with the internet. Announced on September 30, 2025, Neon will be an invite-only subscription product priced at $19.99 monthly with the sole focus of integrating AI into daily tasks.

Traditional browsers mostly act as windows to the internet, letting you visit websites and find information. Neon, on the other hand, reimagines this experience by adding AI agents capable of performing tasks autonomously.

“We built Opera Neon for ourselves – and for everyone who uses AI extensively in their day-to-day,” said Opera’s EVP of Browsers, Krystian Kolondra.

Neon fits into the new landscape of agentic web browsers, which also includes Perplexity’s Comet and The Browser Company’s Dia. These browsers represent the emerging “Web 4.0” vision, a web where intelligent agents collaborate with users instead of merely presenting information.
