OnTrac Appoints Arjun Sainath as CTO to Lead AI and Technology Strategy

OnTrac appoints Arjun Sainath as CTO to lead technology, AI and data initiatives as the carrier looks to modernize operations and scale growth.

OnTrac has appointed Arjun Sainath as Chief Technology Officer (CTO), putting a technology executive with more than two decades of experience in logistics, supply chain and enterprise technology in charge of its technology strategy.

Sainath will oversee technology across operations, customer solutions, data, artificial intelligence and enterprise systems as OnTrac prepares for its next phase of growth. The carrier said his mandate includes building an AI-driven development model intended to accelerate speed-to-market and applying automation and advanced analytics across the business.

The appointment comes as parcel carriers increasingly use AI to improve network efficiency, automate workflows and make operational decisions. UPS, for example, has expanded AI across logistics operations through digital twins, predictive planning and agentic control tower capabilities, reflecting the broader shift toward AI-enabled logistics infrastructure.

Sainath Brings Logistics And Enterprise Technology Experience

Before joining OnTrac, Sainath served as CTO at Cart.com, where he led product and engineering strategy and worked on AI and machine learning applications for commerce and fulfillment technology. Cart.com appointed him to the role in October 2025 as it expanded its investment in data-driven fulfillment systems.

Sainath previously served as Corporate Vice President of Platform Engineering at Blue Yonder, where he led the migration of global supply chain technologies to a cloud-native software-as-a-service platform. Earlier in his career, he held technology leadership roles at Salesforce focused on mergers and acquisitions integrations and revenue automation, according to OnTrac.

At OnTrac, his responsibilities will include the continued development of technology systems supporting the carrier's network. The company said it plans to use AI, automation and advanced analytics to improve network efficiency, support operational decision-making and develop new capabilities.

The focus on data and operational intelligence mirrors a broader push among logistics companies to connect fragmented information and make it usable within day-to-day workflows. Penske Logistics, for example, recently launched an AI platform designed to unify transportation and warehousing data and provide real-time operational visibility.

AI Becomes Part Of OnTrac's Growth Strategy

Mike Brown, CEO of OnTrac, said Sainath's experience applying AI, data-driven solutions and modern platforms to operational challenges would help strengthen the company's technology foundation and accelerate innovation.

Sainath said last-mile logistics offered an opportunity to use AI and automation to create customer value while lowering costs. His comments point to applications that extend beyond back-office automation into routing, network management and customer-facing delivery experiences.

The carrier has already been developing technology around its network. On 09/14, it announced a Dynamic Savings program that uses real-time network capacity information to offer qualifying shippers promotional rates through an application programming interface (API). The company said its system evaluates package characteristics and network conditions and can return a pricing result within milliseconds.

The use of AI in last-mile operations is also expanding across the industry. FedEx's same-day delivery program with OneRail uses machine learning to assign deliveries and adjust routes based on traffic, order priority and other real-time conditions.

OnTrac's delivery network reaches more than 75% of the U.S. population across 35 states and Washington, D.C., according to the company. It operates seven days a week and serves ecommerce, marketplace and omnichannel shipping needs.

With Sainath now leading technology, OnTrac said it will continue investing in AI, automation, data intelligence and platform modernization as it seeks to improve operational efficiency and customer experience while scaling its network.
