Zoom Launches Agentic AI to Turn Meetings and Calls Into Automated Workflows

"The next phase of enterprise AI will be defined by the ability to move from conversation to action"

At Enterprise Connect on March 10, 2026, Zoom Communications announced a significant expansion of its enterprise agentic AI platform, introducing workflow orchestration capabilities across Zoom Workplace, Zoom Phone, and Zoom CX.

The updates are designed to address what the company describes as one of the defining limitations of enterprise AI today, tools that summarise discussions but leave the actual follow-through to humans.

"The next phase of enterprise AI will be defined by the ability to move from conversation to action," said Velchamy Sankarlingam, president of Product and Engineering at Zoom. "Zoom's agentic AI platform is designed to orchestrate action across systems, turning every meeting, call, and customer interaction into a trigger for workflow automation."

AI Companion 3.0 and Custom Agents

The centerpiece of the announcement is the AI Companion 3.0, rolling out across Zoom Workplace, Zoom Business Services, and Workvivo. Previously limited to web browser access, the upgraded assistant now integrates directly into Zoom's applications and connects conversations with enterprise data and third-party systems through Zoom's federated AI platform.

Monthly active users of AI Companion more than tripled year-over-year in Q4 FY26, a growth rate that reflects accelerating enterprise adoption rather than a gradual rollout.

Alongside the core expansion, Zoom introduced new capabilities for its Custom AI Companion add-on, allowing organizations to build and deploy their own AI agents without writing code.

Prebuilt agents are available for sales, IT, and marketing functions, while custom agents can retrieve information, automate tasks, and trigger workflows across external platforms including Salesforce, ServiceNow, Box, Google Drive, and OneDrive. Ten new secure enterprise search connectors expand the data sources agents can draw from.

Zoom also introduced three new AI-powered collaboration canvases, AI Docs, AI Sheets, and AI Slides, enabling teams to convert meeting conversations directly into structured documents, data analysis, and presentations without leaving the meeting environment.

Automation Beyond the Meeting Room

The platform expansion extends well beyond meetings. Zoom Phone, which now supports more than 10 million seats globally, is gaining agentic post-call workflows that automatically draft follow-up emails and send summaries without manual input.

A new Zoom Phone Mobile experience lets users make business calls from their native smartphone dialer while retaining Zoom's full suite of AI calling capabilities.

Zoom's virtual AI receptionist is also gaining SMS support, enabling it to handle customer engagements via text, answering questions, collecting information, managing scheduling flows, and escalating to a human agent when needed.

On the customer experience side, AI Expert Assist 3.0 brings a real-time agentic layer to the contact center, providing agents and supervisors with contextual guidance and automated task execution during live interactions.

A new CX Insights tool allows customer experience leaders to query interaction transcripts and operational data using natural language. Zoom said its customer experience business continues to see high double-digit growth, with paid AI included in each of its top ten CX deals last quarter.

Two additions round out the announcement on opposite ends of the trust spectrum. Live voice translation, launched in five languages, allows meeting participants to speak in their native language while others hear real-time audio translation in their preferred language.

And deepfake risk detection brings a new layer of meeting security, intelligently identifying synthetic audio or video and alerting participants in real time.

Zoom also announced Zoom AI Services, a suite of enterprise-grade AI APIs covering transcription, translation, summarisation, reasoning, and image processing, giving developers access to the same underlying technologies that power Zoom's own products.
