Oracle Corporation has officially unveiled the General Availability of its Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Generative AI service, accompanied by new features aimed at facilitating enterprise utilization of the latest generative AI advancements. The OCI Generative AI service, a fully managed offering, seamlessly integrates large language models (LLMs) from Cohere and Meta Llama 2 to cater to a broad spectrum of business use cases.
The latest enhancements to OCI Generative AI service include multilingual support for over 100 languages, an improved GPU cluster management experience, and flexible fine-tuning options. Available on the Oracle Cloud and on-premises via OCI Dedicated Region, customers can leverage this service to address real-world business challenges more efficiently.
Greg Pavlik, Senior Vice President of AI and Data Management at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, emphasized the company’s commitment to embedding AI solutions across the technology stack. “Instead of providing a tool kit that requires assembling, we are offering a powerful suite of pre-built generative AI services and features that work together to help customers solve business problems smarter and faster,” said Pavlik.
Key Features of the OCI Generative AI Service:
- Managed Models from Cohere and Meta Llama 2: The latest generative AI models are available in a managed service, consumable via API calls, to assist with text generation, summarization, and semantic similarity tasks.
- Customization with Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) Techniques: Customers can refine models using their own data with RAG techniques, ensuring the models understand unique internal operations.
- OCI Generative AI Agents Service: Currently in beta, this service combines the power of LLMs and enterprise search to provide contextualized results enhanced with enterprise data, allowing users to converse with diverse enterprise data sources through natural language.
- Integration Across Oracle Ecosystem: Oracle is embedding generative AI across its portfolio of cloud applications, databases, and Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications Suite, Oracle NetSuite, and industry-specific applications.
Ritu Jyoti, Group Vice President at IDC, commented on Oracle’s approach, stating, “With a common architecture for generative AI that is being integrated across the Oracle ecosystem […] Oracle is bringing generative AI to where exabytes of customer data already reside.”
To further empower customers, Oracle is expanding the capabilities of OCI Data Science with the OCI Data Science AI Quick Actions feature, allowing no-code access to various open-source LLMs.
