Weigel's Is Replacing Its Store Tech Stack With an AI-Native Platform Across All 90 Locations

"Tote AI gives us a platform that can grow and evolve as quickly as our business does."
Weigel's is replacing the technology stack that runs its stores. Tote AI announced on August 18 that its AI-native point-of-sale platform will be deployed across all 90 of Weigel's convenience store locations throughout Tennessee, bringing point of sale, back office, foodservice, and intelligent store operations into a single cloud-based system.
Traditional POS infrastructure requires separate integrations for each new capability and periodic hardware replacement cycles that create operational disruption, according to the company. According to Tote, its cloud-native design is built to update and improve continuously as technology advances
"Tote AI gives us a platform that can grow and evolve as quickly as our business does," said Doug Yawberry, President and CEO of Weigel's. "We're a big believer in the power of technology to make our stores better and our associates more productive."
Weigel's is not an isolated deployment. Tote AI's customer list in the convenience sector now includes Huck's Market, Spinx, and Loop Neighborhood Markets alongside Weigel's.
Tote says its hardware-agnostic approach allows retailers to modernize without replacing existing terminals, reducing implementation risk and cost while maintaining operational continuity. Tote is building technology specifically for the $837+ billion US fuel and convenience industry.
The convenience store format presents specific operational demands that make the all-in-one platform architecture commercially attractive.
High transaction volume, complex foodservice operations, fuel forecourt management, and back-office inventory tracking are functions that traditional POS vendors have historically addressed through separate integrated systems.
Consolidating those functions into a single platform reduces the number of vendor relationships a retailer manages and creates a unified data layer across all store operations.
"Weigel's is a great example of where the industry is headed," said Shyam Rao, Founder and CEO of Tote. "They've built a beloved brand through decades of investing in their customers, their communities and their people."
The Tennessee rollout covers Weigel's full store fleet. Financial terms of the partnership were not disclosed.
