Newell Brands Has a New Design Center in Atlanta. AI Is Already Running Across Its Enterprise.

The Design Center will span two locations.

Newell Brands opened a nearly 37,000-square-foot Design Center in Atlanta on September 15, bringing AI-enabled capabilities, digital visualization, physical prototyping, and dedicated consumer research environments into one facility built to sit at the center of the company's product and brand development process.

According to the company, the Design Center spans two locations. The primary facility at the Queen Tower in Concourse Office Park sits at Newell's Atlanta headquarters, co-located with brand marketing, consumer insights, innovation, and R&D teams.

A photo and creative studio at the Morgan Falls location serves the content and creative production side of the operation. Together the two facilities create an integrated environment designed to compress the distance between consumer insight, design decision, and commercial execution.

The AI capabilities built into the Design Center connect to a broader enterprise AI program already in operation. Newell disclosed in 2024 that it had launched AI-enabled capabilities across more than 100 enterprise use cases, applying a test-and-learn approach that validated use cases before scaling.

The Design Center applies that AI foundation to the front end of product development, exploration, visualization, and rapid iteration, rather than limiting AI to operational or administrative workflows, according to the company.

"Design has the power to shape how consumers experience our brands and products," said Nick Hammitt, Chief Marketing Officer at Newell Brands. "By bringing together design, consumer insights, brand teams, R&D and innovation partners, we are creating stronger connections between our consumers and brands and how we bring products to market."

The Kitchen UX Lab replicates a real-world kitchen, providing a controlled but realistic environment for observing how consumers interact with cooking and food storage products across Newell's portfolio.

The Kids UX Lab creates a comfortable research environment for observing parents, caregivers, and children interacting with products, covering the family-oriented brands in Newell's portfolio including Graco.

Both labs give cross-functional teams direct access to consumer behavior data as part of the design and prototyping cycle rather than as a separate research phase.

The intent is to surface consumer insights earlier and more frequently, before significant investment has been committed to a product direction, rather than validating designs through consumer research at a late stage when changes are expensive.

"The Design Center is about bringing together talent and collaboration in one place and building the next chapter of design at Newell Brands," said Brian Rice, VP and Global Head of Design at Newell Brands. "Our goal is a design capability that helps our brands innovate with greater clarity, speed and impact."
