How Can ShipBob's New AI Suite Enhance Fulfillment?

The new ShipBob MCP offers 70+ read and write actions across 10 areas of operations, among the first full read-write connectors in the fulfillment industry.

On August 4, ShipBob, the global supply chain and fulfillment platform, introduced ShipBob AI, an end-to-end suite that places artificial intelligence across the company's fulfillment stack, from the software merchants use to the robots on its warehouse floors, according to the company.

"Every commerce platform has an AI story right now. But a storefront can become AI-ready in a weekend, and a supply chain cannot, because a supply chain is not software alone. It is inventory, labor, warehouses, exceptions, and the trust riding on every order. We have been building the stack that lets AI actually operate a supply chain since 2014, so our AI story is not that we added AI to ShipBob. It is that ShipBob is becoming the action layer AI needs to run fulfillment," said Dhruv Saxena, CEO of ShipBob.

ShipBob's MCP Anchors the AI Suite

At the center of the suite is ShipBob's MCP, an open layer that turns a merchant's fulfillment operation into actions AI can take. The MCP offers more than 70 read and write actions across 10 areas of operations, the company said.

The MCP is accessible two ways, according to ShipBob. The first is Bobby, ShipBob's own in-dashboard agent, now in beta, which is embedded across the dashboard and can be opened as a side drawer, floating panel, or full-screen view. The second is an Anthropic-verified connector live in the Claude directory, which the company said is among the first in fulfillment to offer full read and write access, where most connectors are read-only.

An assistant connected through the MCP can reorder a SKU, reroute a shipment, or resolve an exception order, rather than only pull a report, according to the company. ShipBob said merchants already make thousands of requests a day through the MCP, ranging from routine questions about order status and inventory to bulk actions such as moving orders stuck in exception into processing.

Every action taken through the MCP, by any user or connected tool, is visible to merchants through a new ShipBob AI Hub, the company said. The hub includes an "MCP Insights" tab that logs all AI activity on a merchant's account, according to ShipBob.

The suite extends to ShipBob's physical operations as well. The company said it is deploying autonomous mobile robots across parts of its network ahead of this year's peak season, taking on repetitive movement inside warehouses. ShipBob also said AI-powered cameras will inspect returned items on arrival and determine whether they can be resold, refurbished, or written off.

"ShipBob's MCP makes it easy to turn operational data into action. We can quickly surface exceptions, understand what's happening across orders, and resolve issues immediately through Claude or ShipBob. It's simplified day-to-day visibility and made our operations and support teams much more efficient," said Noah Rosenstock, Director of Operations at Chamberlain Coffee.

"The hardest part of fulfillment is volatility, but we know volatility is often a great thing for a brand's revenue and growth. A product goes viral, a promotion overperforms, peak arrives, and suddenly the plan no longer matches the day. Owning the software, the AI, and the robots changes the math. We can manage those swings across the whole network and down to a single site, customer, or SKU, and keep service steady when it matters most. The thinking and the doing finally move together," said Melissa Nick, Chief Supply Chain Officer at ShipBob.

ShipBob AI is part of the company's Summer 2026 Release. The MCP and Claude connector are available now, the AI Hub is live in the dashboard, and Bobby's general availability is planned for Fall 2026, according to the company. Autonomous robots are rolling out starting at ShipBob's Midwest hub, while AI-based returns grading is expected to enter preview later this year, the company said.
