AMN Healthcare Acquires AI Translation Platform Jaide Health

AMN Healthcare has acquired Jaide Health, an AI-powered medical translation platform, as healthcare providers expand language access tools for nonclinical patient interactions.
Healthcare staffing company AMN Healthcare has acquired Jaide Health, an artificial intelligence-powered medical translation platform designed to help healthcare workers communicate with patients who speak different languages.
The transaction closed on June 4, according to an announcement from AMN Healthcare. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Jaide Health provides real-time interpretation and translation for nonclinical conversations between healthcare staff and patients. The platform can translate both spoken and written communications and is already being used by healthcare organizations.
AMN said the acquisition expands its language services capabilities while maintaining the use of human interpreters for clinical discussions involving diagnoses, treatment decisions, and other care-related conversations.
“By expanding language support across more moments in the healthcare journey, we can help health systems deliver a more seamless experience for patients and care teams while continuing to rely on the critical expertise of our qualified interpreters when it matters most,” Cary Grace, President and CEO of AMN Healthcare, said in the company's announcement.
Focus on Nonclinical Communication
AMN already provides human interpreter services for clinical interactions. The company said Jaide's technology will primarily support routine patient communications, such as helping patients navigate facilities or make basic requests.
Mark Knudsen, President of Language Services at AMN Healthcare, told Staffing Industry Analysts that the company viewed Jaide's production deployment as an important factor in the acquisition.
“Part of our interest in Jaide is that their solution has been used in production,” Knudsen said. “This is not an announcement of something that might work; it is out there working and serving clients today.”
Knudsen also said the platform was developed specifically for healthcare environments and operates in a Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)-compliant manner.
The distinction between clinical and nonclinical translation has become increasingly important as healthcare organizations evaluate where AI can be deployed safely. Questions around the use of AI for patient communication have also surfaced in discussions about whether AI systems can accurately translate hospital discharge instructions and other healthcare materials:
Healthcare AI Moves Beyond Pilots
The acquisition comes as healthcare organizations continue adopting AI tools for operational and administrative functions.
Rather than replacing interpreters, AMN is positioning the technology as an additional layer of language support that can be used across more patient interactions. The company said human interpreters will continue to handle conversations where clinical accuracy and context are critical.
The move also reflects a broader trend in healthcare AI adoption, where providers are increasingly deploying systems that have already been tested in production environments. Similar efforts to introduce AI tools into hospital operations have included projects focused on administrative workflows, workforce support, and patient engagement.
Healthcare organizations have also placed greater emphasis on keeping patient-facing AI applications inside secure and compliant environments. That approach has been evident in newer healthcare AI deployments involving patient communication and information access.
According to AMN Healthcare, its clinicians and healthcare professionals reached more than 13 million patients in 2025 and supported more than 2,300 healthcare systems. The company said 93% of the top healthcare systems in the United States use its services.
As healthcare providers continue looking for ways to improve communication with patients who have limited English proficiency, the acquisition gives AMN an AI-based tool that can be deployed alongside its existing human interpreter services.
