Atlassian Says 80% of the Fortune 500 Now Use Rovo. Customers Using It Grow ARR Twice as Fast.

"That's how you begin to unlock the power of AI across teams and across the board."

Rovo, Atlassian's AI assistant and agent platform is no longer a pilot product at the Fortune 500. Atlassian CFO James Chuong confirmed at Citi's 2026 Global TMT Conference on September 9 that 80% of Fortune 500 companies now use Rovo.

Rovo is enabled by default on Atlassian's paid Cloud plans, meaning the 80% figure tracks provisioning across the Fortune 500 install base rather than necessarily confirming daily active use at every organization. The more commercially precise signal is the ARR expansion rate.

According to the company, customers using Rovo are growing their total Atlassian ARR at twice the rate of comparable customers not using it. That correlation of AI adoption doubling the expansion rate of the customers who have crossed the deployment threshold, is the clearest commercial validation Atlassian has provided for its AI strategy.

It answers the question that most enterprise software AI disclosures leave unanswered: not whether customers are using the AI product, but whether using it is changing how much they spend on the platform.

Rovo-assisted actions grew 50% quarter over quarter, a metric Chuong described as significant specifically because it measures task completion rather than simple search or chat.

Atlassian disclosed at its Team '26 conference in May 2026 that Rovo supported more than 14 million assisted actions in a single month, giving the 50% quarter-over-quarter growth rate a concrete production baseline rather than a relative figure without context. "Users asking Rovo to take action," he said. "That's how you begin to unlock the power of AI across teams and across the board."

The MCP Acceleration and the December Metering Decision

Alongside the Rovo data, Chuong disclosed the scale of Atlassian's Model Context Protocol ecosystem. Monthly active users of Atlassian's MCP server have exceeded 1 million.

MCP calls are growing 400% quarter over quarter. MCP-driven Jira item creation is up 4x and MCP-driven Confluence page creation is up 4x, both confirming that external AI agents are writing data back into Atlassian systems, not just reading from them.

When an external coding agent creates a Jira ticket or a Confluence page as part of completing a task, Atlassian's system becomes the record of what that agent did, and the Teamwork Graph accumulates more context with every write, according to the company.

The Teamwork Graph currently spans 150 billion connections across people, work, and data giving it the scale to function as a meaningful context engine for AI agents rather than a limited retrieval layer.

Chuong described Atlassian as preparing for a world where agents outnumber human users. The company already has 15,000 agents standing up internally, completing approximately 40 tasks per day, with 99% of Atlassian employees using Rovo.

The monetization decision that follows from that trajectory lands in December. Atlassian will begin enforcing consumption metering on complex AI services, specifically the tasks that draw on the Teamwork Graph for long-horizon, multi-step workloads.

Simple queries will remain unmetered. The Teamwork Collection already provides 10 times the standard Rovo credit allocation to reduce adoption friction before metering begins, according to the company.

Teamwork Collection customers are already demonstrating the commercial pattern the December metering is designed to capture: 2 times more agent development, 2 times more agent deployments, and 2 times more Rovo credit usage than customers not on the collection. Service Collection agentic automations grew 3 times over the last six months.

Atlassian's Q4 FY2026 results provided the financial foundation behind all of it. Revenue of $1.8 billion up 28%, ARR growth of 23%, cloud revenue accelerating to 31% growth, and cloud NRR above 120%.
