M&T Bank announced on August 11, 2026 that Kalyana Bedhu has joined the bank as Head of AI Engineering, a role announced by Linda Tai, CIO of Enterprise Application Development at M&T Bank.
Bedhu will lead the engineering, platforms, architecture, and governance capabilities that enable AI innovation and adoption across M&T Bank, according to the company. The four-part scope covers the full operational stack through which AI moves from strategy to production deployment inside a bank.
Bedhu brings more than 20 years of experience in technology, data, and AI transformation. He joins from Fannie Mae, where he led AI and GenAI products and platforms, scaling enterprise AI capabilities inside a highly regulated environment where the constraints governing model deployment, data governance, and audit trails are directly comparable to what M&T Bank operates under.
Prior to Fannie Mae, he held leadership roles at Microsoft and Ericsson, building AI, analytics, and enterprise architecture capabilities at scale across two of the world's largest technology companies
