Breakthru Beverage Group Deploys AI Tools, Projects $100K in Savings

Breakthru Beverage Group migrates to AWS and rolls out AI tools across sales and legal, targeting measurable efficiency gains.

Breakthru Beverage Group, a North American beverage distributor, deployed a set of AI tools across its operations following a cloud migration and data overhaul with Adastra and Amazon Web Services (AWS), according to a company case study.

The company projected about $100,000 in annual savings from an AI Sales Coach designed to support sales representatives with preparation and product recommendations. A separate Legal AI Assistant is expected to reduce manual contract replication by about 80%, alongside projected savings of $56,280 and roughly 190 hours saved annually, the company reported.

Breakthru Beverage Group operates across 16 U.S. and Canadian markets and distributes wine, spirits, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages through a regulated three-tier system, where distributors act as intermediaries between producers and retailers.

Cloud Migration and Data Governance Enable AI Rollout

The company exited two legacy VMware-based data centers and migrated mission-critical workloads, including its e-commerce platform, to AWS as part of a broader effort to modernize its technology foundation.

In parallel, it implemented a Snowflake-based data governance layer to consolidate and standardize data across the business, supporting AI readiness and compliance requirements in a regulated environment.

Breakthru Beverage Group structured its AI deployment across three layers: a cloud platform layer, a centralized data layer, and an AI layer that delivers tools embedded in day-to-day workflows. The company also established a Cloud Innovation and AI Center of Excellence to guide adoption and align projects with business priorities.

“Adastra helped us move quickly from ideas to real, measurable value,” Glenn Remoreras, EVP and Chief Information Officer at Breakthru Beverage Group, said in the case study.

The approach reflects a broader pattern of enterprises focusing on infrastructure and governance before scaling AI deployments, particularly in operational environments where data quality and system integration are constraints. Similar patterns have appeared in healthcare operations, where AI has been applied to administrative workflows with direct financial impact.

AI Tools Target Sales Execution and Contract Workflows

With its cloud and data foundation in place, Breakthru Beverage Group deployed several AI applications tied to specific workflows. An internal system, Breakthru GPT, uses company policies and playbooks to answer employee queries, reducing reliance on support teams.

The AI Sales Coach uses existing product data and sales materials to guide representatives on assortment planning and upsell opportunities before customer visits. Adoption is tied to manager-led coaching routines, the company said.

The Legal AI Assistant standardizes contract creation and review across markets with varying regulatory requirements, reducing manual duplication and accelerating turnaround times. The company also introduced a supplier portal with embedded analytics to improve onboarding and reporting.

The company has assessed and sequenced more than 20 AI and generative AI use cases based on feasibility, impact, and data readiness, according to the case study. This approach aligns with other enterprises deploying AI agents directly within operational workflows, including logistics providers using AI to automate repetitive tasks in supply chain environments.

Breakthru Beverage Group’s deployment targets efficiency in a high-volume, low-margin distribution model, where reducing manual work and improving sales execution can directly affect operating performance.
